Grammar - Is or Are

This  drawing shows when you use is and when you use are.

Is is for one thing, are is for two or more things. (plural)

Today we practised which version to use.

Poem - I Hear

I Hear

When I think of my house

I hear

Mum in the kitchen cooking my eggs. 

The phone ringing, my dad is calling.

I hear the TV playing cartoons,

Lots of bangs and crashes and music.

The washing machine sounds like an engine roaring.

And there, just outside my door

As if it had never ceased to be

But only needed listening to 

Paper rustling as dad reads the newspaper,

Floating free.

Here is the original poem. I have used it to write my own version.

Twinkle Twinkle on the Xylophone

As part of our unit on sound we learnt to play the song on the Xylophone.

We played it at our on-line assembly
